Acrylic/Gouache Landscapes
In this series of semi-abstract landscapes I am working within self-imposed constraints, such as limited color choices or using monochromatic and muted palettes. I work to clarify compositional elements by reducing the number of shapes and letting go unnecessary details. Working small in acrylic or gouache allows me to easily explore, and experiment to clarify my evolving artistic vision. I am mostly a plein air painter, being in nature is my inspiration. Sometimes I paint from memory or sketches I have made on location.
"What is important is not the motif itself, so much as your ability to imagine, speculate organize and above all simplify" (Richard Busey)
